Question:
Is it permissible to borrow money from a credit union?
Answer:
In 2018, rabbonim issued a Kol Korei prohibiting partaking in and borrowing from credit unions without a Heter Iska. As stated in the Kol Korei, this p’sak was already issued by Rav Moshe Feinstein zt”l.
There are, however, those who find room for leniency. As a result, those who wish to borrow money, or who have already borrowed money from a credit union, should consult their rabbi or other competent authority.
